Build Together consisted of a collection of soft cushions and items to sit on on a blue mat on the floor and blocks handmade from repurposed wood from NYPD barricades. This installation invited intergenerational interactivity. Visitors were invited to make themselves comfortable and play with the blocks. Conversations may be born out of the physical explorations with the blocks and the cushions. The environment, flooded with natural light, was meant to be serene. The blocks made from police barricades encourage participants to begin to imagine what else we could build with these materials of the state that are meant to divide.
